The XXI UISG Plenary is soon approaching and will be held in Rome, May 6-10. More than 800 Superiors General will be participating, from 80 different countries, speaking 13 languages. The UISG is also happy to welcome more than 40 speakers and guests. For the first time, UISG will also offer 7 workshops to Superiors General, before and after the Plenary.

Les Sœurs de la Congrégation de Notre-Dame will celebrate a very special anniversary in 2020: the 400th anniversary of the birth of their foundress, Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys, born in Troyes, France on April 17, 1620. Together with all the Congregation’s friends worldwide, the sisters wish to share their joy. Throughout 2020, various activities will highlight this event and a mini website, expressly designed for the occasion, will feature information about these initiatives.

During its first meeting of the year held in Vancouver March 19 to 21, the CRC’s Administrative Council took the opportunity to meet with consecrated persons involved in ministry in the Vancouver Archdiocese.

Shot in cinematic detail, the film This Mountain Life is a riveting examination of human passion set high in the peaks of British Columbia, Canada. Among the persons portrayed in the documentary are the Dominican nuns of the Queen of Peace Monastery in Squamish. Sr Claire Rolf, OP, Prioress, and Sr Maria Tersidis, OP, explain on how living in such a place nurtur their faith and bring them a step closer to God.

On April 1st, about 60 religious, mostly women of the Winnipeg and Saint Boniface dioceses, gathered for a day offered by the CRC for Ongoing Formation. The theme was “Wisdom and Compassion in a Broken Church: Healing the Past and Shaping the Future”.

Providence Companions, Providence Associates, collaborators, relatives and friends of Sisters of Providence representing Quebec, Chile, Western United States and Western Canada, and as well as Haiti, Cameroon, Egypt, El Salvador, Argentina and the Philippines, all gathered as a Providence family for five days of celebrations.

It is with great joy that the Sisters of the Congrégation de Notre-Dame have learned that the name of Sister Marie-Aveline Bengle (known as Mother Sainte-Anne-Marie) is found on the list of women who were honoured by the Quebec Government today, for the great impact they had in Quebec’s history.

The UISG Board Members who participated the Vatican Meeting (February 21-24) on Protection of Minors in the Church met the Press on Monday, February 25, to share their thoughts and ideas on this topic.

As the meeting on safeguarding and protection of minors begins, the Major Superiors of Religious Orders and Congregations around the world unite in support of this initiative of Pope Francis.
