The Theological Reflection Committee was established by the Administrative Council of the CRC in September 1999. Its actual mandate (April 2022):
The Theological Commission is a research and facilitation group that operates within the Canadian Religious Conference (CRC). Through its collaboration with the staff and the members of the CRC, the Commission is committed to a theological interpretation of the state of consecrated life and implications for its future in Canada.
The Commission responds to various issues and questions that arise within the CRC. It also has the autonomy to explore themes or topics on consecrated life as it chooses, in order to offer the results of its reflection to the members of the CRC.
The Commission is representative of the regions of Canada and of the diversity within consecrated life.
The members of the Commission are appointed by the Administrative Council of the CRC.
