The Canadian federal elections being just a few weeks away, and in preparation for Global Climate Action Day, the Conseil Église et Société (Council on Church and Society) adds its voice, on behalf of the Québec Assembly of Catholic Bishops, to the many who are calling for effective action to be taken to care for our Common Home.

On this World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, leaders of Canada’s 65 Congregations of Catholic Sisters are calling on the country’s politicians to respond to the climate emergency declared by Parliament by taking concrete steps to avert it.

The Society of the Faithful Companions of Jesus is approaching a significant landmark in its life and history:  200 years since its foundation in Amiens, France, in 2020. For the FCJs, their friends, colleagues and associates, celebrations will begin on the Foundress’s birthday, 21 September 2019, and end on the Feast of Christ the King, 22 November 2020.

The Canadian Religious Conference is delighted to welcome a new addition to its team: Mr. Dinh Khoi Vu who will assume the position of Communications Assistant.

Among the activities organized as part of Archeology Month, there will be a workshop on applying glaze to fired clay (cookie) at the SNJM Foundation House, Saturday, August 10, at 10:30 a.m. This activity is designed for children 8 and over accompanied by their parents, and is an original way to introduce young people to a forgotten art: porcelain painting.

As the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul plan for Providence Village on the Motherhouse ground, the Archives has started planning for its future location. When the congregation comes to completion it is incredibly important that the history and contribution of the Sisters be remembered and continue to be made accessible.

Every July 29th, the Sisters of St. Martha celebrate the Feast Day of their patroness Saint Martha. Every five years the celebration includes the Rite of Installation of the new Leadership Team. This year marks the double celebration.

On June 13, 2019, we said goodbye to Sr Louise Stafford, FSP, after 15 years of service in the CRC Communications Office. At this special time, Sr Louise wanted to share with us a few words.

For 159 years, the Ursuline Sisters have lived and worked in Chatham Kent. Mother Xavier Le Bihan and her companions arrived in May, 1860 at the request of the people of Chatham and were soon involved in education and other areas of ministry. Now, with a population of 64 sisters, they find themselves at a crossroad. […] The collective hope of the Sisters was to find a potential purchaser who held similar values with a care focused core purpose and they identified in Jarlette Health Services an organization which could be part of the way forward.

The Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM) have officially opened their new archives exhibition, open to the public until February 7, 2020. This year, the theme focuses on the issue of access to education for girls, an issue that remains to this day, as evidenced in the numerous signs of gender inequalities in education.
