  • The psychological effects of confinement: Rebuilding communion and relationships

    The confinement has tested community relations and the psychological well-being of several religious community members. The preventative isolation also increased the vulnerability of people suffering from cognitive impairments. The objective of this webinar is to provide reference points for leaders who find themselves in this situation and help them in renewing community relationships. It follows up on the psychological impacts of the confinement which leaders mentioned during the May 2020 Zoom meetings and recent September webinars.

  • Coping with Grief and Loss during COVID-19

    The Manitoba Multifaith Council Spiritual Health Committee, in collaboration with the Interfaith Healthcare Association of Manitoba, is pleased to present this half-day workshop on the subject of grief during this pandemic. Anne Whitford-Fast and Lynn Granke will facilitate a process for participants to consider their own losses and via this experience, be able to help others in their faith communities give expression to their grief and find a way forward in this new normal.

  • Governance of religious congregations: Realities, impasses and ways forward

    In recent years, the demographics of religious congregations have evolved rapidly. The accelerating decrease in number of members has led to significant capacity gaps. Several congregations are struggling to find people who are willing to take on leadership roles and ensure renewal within this function. This Leaders' circle will invite participants to reflect on existing or emerging models of governance which could provide sustainable leadership and governance, but also on criteria and issues that should be considered.

    Fr. Xavier Jeyaraj, SJ, will talk about the alarming transformation of democracy in the world with the election of authoritarian regimes into office. His presentation will focus on India, the world’s largest democracy, with parallels drawn with changes taking place in Latin America, Asia, Africa and North America. Fr. Xavier will also speak of how justice, equality, human rights, and “development for all” are being redefined by authoritarian governments all over the world.
