Appointment of a Provincial Council for the Daughters of Wisdom of Canada

The initial process of appointing of a new Provincial Council for the Daughters of Wisdom of Canada was bypassed by the global pandemic. Faced with the impossibility, among other things, of being able to visit the entity, the General Council of the Daughters of Wisdom saw fit to extend the present council’s mandate from 2020 to 2022.

Sr Linda Joseph is the Provincial Leader. She is assisted by councillors Anne-Marie Beaudoin, also Provincial Treasurer, Sr Jocelyne Fallu and Sr Francine Gauthier. The Provincial Council took office on the feast of Our Lady of Wisdom, June 8, 2020.

The task ahead for the members of the Provincial Council of the Daughters of Wisdom of Canada promises to be somewhat more complex given the impact of the pandemic. It should also be remembered that the Provincial Councils of Canada and the United States have begun a process of reconfiguration to create a single entity for North America.

In addition to these challenges, the Provincial Council of the Daughters of Wisdom of Canada has important responsibilities in the management and facilitation of the various communities. It should be noted that the religious community has members from Alberta to New Brunswick, as well as Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec. Since 1884, their presence in Canada has been mainly in education, health care, pastoral work in schools and parishes, as well as in many community-based social commitments.
