Sister Nuala Kenny, SC, Receives the Service through Christ Award

The Covenant Health Board of Directors is pleased to honour Sister Nuala Kenny with the 2016 Service through Christ Award. This award is presented annually to recognize individuals or organizations in the community who provide outstanding leadership support or have made significant support of Catholic health care in Alberta.

Sister Nuala’s dedication, leadership and service to Catholic health care is tremendous. Her thought-provoking, fundamental questions of ethics in health care practice and policy have resulted in greater reflection, discussion, understanding and action. Her longstanding focus on social justice speaks to her conviction that each individual is inherently sacred–an important and essential recognition in health care delivery. Sister Nuala leads with compassion, purporting dignity, respect and understanding as key elements of any interaction. As a Covenant Health board member, in addition to her expertise, she brought a humanistic approach to governing an organization with over 11,000 employees spread across many communities in Alberta. She continually instigated and supported conversations that deepened ethical and theological reflection on everyday and emerging issues helping us better serve the patients, residents and families in our care and our team of staff, physicians and volunteers.

As the Covenant Health Board of Directors, the CRC would like to congratulate and thank Sister Nuala for her contributions and commitment.
