Montreal, August 31, 2021 – It has been brought to the attention of the Sisters of the Congrégation de Notre-Dame that a few congregations have received a letter appearing to have been signed by Sister Agnes Campbell and requesting the deposit of the accompanying cheque as well as the transfer of funds to beneficiaries.
The Congregation never sent such documents. This is a scam that we have reported to the authorities. However, we were informed that due to the number of scams circulating, an investigation is only opened in the event of actual damage. To our knowledge, no transfer of funds has been made by congregations targeted by the scammers.
Please remain vigilant and report this attempted scam if you are targeted.
