Commitment Statement for Laudato Si’ Action Platform

As Sisters of St. Martha of P.E.I., our charism is expressed in simplicity, attentiveness and hospitality. From this perspective, we embrace our common home and all people living on it with the anticipation of journeying with our Indigenous people.

As women committed to a ministry of presence, who are striving to embrace ecological justice and the vision of all creation as a community of life, we pledge ourselves to protect Earth, to listen to the cry of the poor and to respond by education, contemplative practices and action.

We commit ourselves as a Congregation to Pope Francis’ call in Laudato Si to respond to the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor.

We join the Global Church and commit to undertaking the challenge of the Laudato Si’ Action Platform with others- the whole earth community.
