The UISG and USG

The International Union of Superiors General (UISG) is a canonically approved, worldwide organisation of superiors general of Catholic religious institutes for women. Its main purpose is to make known and improve the understanding of the meaning of religious life. The UISG mission is to build bridges that span distances, borders and boundaries by offering ways for members to communicate with each other, to create a common community and be in communion with each other. The UISG publishes a Bulletin three times a year in six languages. Their website,, provides information for UISG members, for all women religious and for others interested in the life and the mission of Catholic Sisters.

The Union of Superiors General (USG) is the male counterpart of the UISG. In a spirit of partnership between both associations, the members of the executives of the respective administrative councils hold joint meetings, invite one another to their plenary assemblies, participate in the establishment and work of permanent and ad hoc commissions and collaborate on common projects.

The JPIC UISG/USG Newsbrief is published by the Commission for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation UISG/USG Secretariat. It gives an update of different events taking place in Rome and elsewhere.
